Warm Earth Cottage Ltd was purchased from the previous owners (Anne and Bert Miller) by Jan Wagtendonk who operates this magic place with her widowed father Walter.

Jan was born and bred in the South Island where she grew up enjoying many successful years in the equestrian world. She later developed a passion for gardening which culminated in the transformation of a 60 acre run-down property into a park-like piece of heaven which was enjoyed by friends, family and busloads of visitors.

Her main goal was the enhancement of the environment through beneficial plantings that attracted and sustained a large variety of birds and insects. She subsequently wrote a book titled "Planting for Birds, Bees and Farm stock" which became a useful reference for other like-minded people.

With the experience gained she looks forward to further enhancing the uniqueness of Warm Earth Cottage and sharing with others the joy it gives her.

Walter has a background in aviation specializing in flight instruction and tutoring. He and a colleague have written a full set of manuals for people wishing to obtain recreational or professional pilot qualifications.
